Casa de la Cultura, Santiago Chimaltenango

For centuries, Guatemala’s Indigenous communities have faced conquest, exploitation, and erasure—yet our people have never surrendered who we are.

We exist to keep the Mayan worldview alive—its language, art, music, and wisdom—so future generations can walk proudly in both worlds: honoring their roots while embracing new opportunities.

Celebrating the Enduring Spirit of Santiago Chimaltenango

But culture cannot thrive when people struggle to survive. Many families face poverty, unfair trade, and gaps in medical care. Others carry  wounds from domestic violence and social hardship. Partnering with the Bread of Life Mission, Casa de la Cultura responds with heart and action—forming community teams to assist the poor, the elderly, and people with disabilities; creating safe spaces and therapeutic classes for women and children affected by violence; and awakening compassion among neighbors.

We believe our greatest heritage is not only what we remember, but how we care for one another. Our vision is a vibrant Santiago Chimaltenango where every child knows their roots, every elder’s wisdom is cherished, and every person, whatever their circumstance can live with dignity, safety, and hope.
